What the Utah process looks like
1.Establish the program
File the one-time affidavit
File a signed affidavit with the local school board (district) stating the child will attend home school, and receive the one-time exemption certificate. No annual re-filing is required.
Withdraw from prior school (if applicable)
Withdraw the child from any current school.
2.During the year
Teach at the parent's discretion
Since 2014/2018 amendments, the parent has sole responsibility for the subjects, method, and evaluation; no specific subjects, hours, testing, or reporting are required by the state.
