Pennsylvania homeschool requirements
Pennsylvania requires a notarized affidavit and educational objectives filed with the district, a portfolio kept during the year, standardized tests in grades 3/5/8, and an annual evaluation by a qualified evaluator.

What the Pennsylvania process looks like
1.Establish the program
File notarized affidavit
Submit the notarized home-education affidavit to the local school district superintendent before instruction begins (and by August 1 annually).
Submit educational objectives
Provide the required outline of proposed educational objectives by subject area with the affidavit.
Withdraw from prior school (if applicable)
Withdraw the child from any current school.
2.During the year
Maintain the portfolio
Keep a log of instruction, samples of work, and standardized test results (required in grades 3, 5, and 8).
3.End of year
Obtain the annual evaluation
Have a qualified evaluator review the portfolio and issue the written evaluation/certification of progress.
Submit portfolio + evaluation
File the evaluator certification (and portfolio if requested) with the school district by June 30.
