NC home school per Part 3, Article 39: file a Notice of Intent, keep attendance + immunization records, and administer an annual nationally standardized test.

What the North Carolina process looks like

1.Establish the School

  • File the Notice of Intent

    File a one-time Notice of Intent to operate a home school with the NC Division of Non-Public Education (DNPE).

  • Record instructor qualifications

    Keep on file the high-school diploma (or equivalent) of the person providing instruction.

2.During the Year

  • Keep attendance + immunization records

    Maintain attendance and immunization records available for inspection by DNPE.

3.End of Year

  • Administer the annual standardized test

    Give a nationally standardized test each year and keep the results on file for at least one year.
