What the Mississippi process looks like

1.Establish the program

  • File the certificate of enrollment

File a certificate of enrollment with the school attendance officer of the local district by September 15 each year, giving the child's name, address, and a simple description of the education being provided.

  • Withdraw from prior school (if applicable)

Withdraw the child from any current school.

2.During the year

  • Provide instruction and keep records

Provide a home-instruction program. No specific subjects, hours, or testing are mandated; keeping your own records is recommended.
