Michigan requires no notice or testing under the home-school route; parents teach required subjects. A separate nonpublic-school option exists for those who prefer to report.

What the Michigan process looks like
1.Establish the program
No state filing required (home-school route)
Under the home-education route no notice, registration, or testing is required. Withdraw the child from any current public school.
2.During the year
Teach the required subjects
Provide organized instruction in reading, spelling, math, science, history, civics, literature, writing, and English grammar. Keeping your own records is recommended.
