Georgia homeschool requirements
Georgia requires a Declaration of Intent to the state DOE, a 180-day school year with attendance records, annual written progress assessments, and standardized testing every three years from grade 3.

What the Georgia process looks like
1.Establish the program
Submit the Declaration of Intent
Submit the Declaration of Intent to the Georgia Department of Education within 30 days of starting the home study program, then annually by September 1 (O.C.G.A. §20-2-690).
Withdraw from prior school (if applicable)
Withdraw the child from any current school.
2.During the year
Keep attendance records
Maintain monthly attendance records for a 180-day school year.
Write the annual progress assessment
Write an annual progress assessment report in each subject and retain it for at least three years.
3.End of year
Administer periodic standardized testing
Administer a nationally standardized test at least every three years beginning at the end of grade 3; results are kept by the parent, not submitted.
