Alaska is the least-regulated state: a child taught at home by a parent is exempt from public-school attendance with no notice, testing, or reporting to the state.

What the Alaska process looks like
1.Establish the program
No state filing required
Under AS 14.30.010(b)(12) a child educated at home by a parent or legal guardian is exempt. No notice of intent, registration, or approval is required.
Withdraw from prior school (if applicable)
If the child is currently enrolled, notify the school of withdrawal so they are not marked truant.
2.During the year
Keep your own records (recommended)
The state requires nothing, but keeping a curriculum outline, attendance log, and samples of work is recommended for your own transcripts and any future school transfer.
