Oregon requires a one-time notice to the local Education Service District when starting; standardized testing is required at grades 3, 5, 8, and 10 but results are kept by the parent and submitted only on request.

1.Establish the program
Notify the local ESD
Send a one-time written notice to the local Education Service District (ESD) within 10 days of withdrawing the child from school or moving into the district.
Withdraw from prior school (if applicable)
Withdraw the child from any current school.
2.During the year
Provide instruction and keep records
Provide a home education program; no specific subjects or hours are mandated. Keep test records for the testing grades.
3.End of year
Test in grades 3, 5, 8, and 10
Have the child take an approved standardized test at the end of grades 3, 5, 8, and 10, administered by a qualified neutral person. Keep the results; the ESD may request them but they are not routinely submitted.
