1.Establish the program
Register with the PED
Notify/register the home school with the New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) within 30 days of establishing it, and renew annually. The operator must hold at least a high-school diploma or equivalent.
Withdraw from prior school (if applicable)
Withdraw the child from any current school.
2.During the year
Teach required subjects
Provide instruction in reading, language arts, math, social studies, and science. Keep your own records; no testing is submitted to the state.
