Como funciona o processo em West Virginia

1.Establish the program

  • File the notice of intent

Submit a notice of intent to the county superintendent, with the child's information and proof the instructor holds at least a high-school diploma or equivalent. The notice is generally one-time.

  • Withdraw from prior school (if applicable)

Withdraw the child from any current school.

2.During the year

  • Teach required subjects

Provide instruction in reading, language, math, science, and social studies. Keep a record of the academic program.

3.End of year

  • Complete the annual assessment

Each year obtain an academic assessment — a standardized test (composite at or above the 50th percentile, or a portfolio review by a certified teacher) — and keep it; submit it to the county superintendent if the child's scores fall below the threshold for consecutive years.
