1.Establish the program

  • File the initial report

    Submit the initial letter of intent / full report to the local superintendent by October 1 (or within a set time of starting), including the child's information and instructor's name and qualifications; provide immunization records.

  • Withdraw from prior school (if applicable)

    Withdraw the child from any current school.

2.During the year

  • Teach required subjects and keep records

    Provide instruction in required subject areas (reading, writing, literature, fine arts, math, science, history, geography, government, health, and PE) and maintain documentation of coverage.

3.End of year

  • Administer the annual standardized test

    Administer a nationally normed standardized test each year; results are kept by the parent and are not submitted unless requested. Only a short annual letter is filed in subsequent years.
